The Influence Of Tattoos On The Stars
By Mark H

The Tattoos of the stars are always a much discussed topic by fans the world over. It is not really surprising to learn that countless stars love tattoos, neither is it surprising that those who are in the public eye and in the media have a very significant influence on the American population's fascination with tattoos. The stars have tattoos, consequently all of their fans crave tattoos too.

For stars, age isn't a problem; older stars as well as the younger ones can have them. We feel we know all of these individuals well- but how much do we know about what unique styles of artwork they favour?

One of America's the greatest popular movie stars, Robert DeNiro, has appeared in movies sporting many different tattoos in his various roles. Whether or not his fans recognize that they are only accessories for his films, the truth is in real life Robert DeNiro has only one tattoo, that of a black panther.

Sports stars are also known to go crazy for tattoos. Michael Jordan has his fraternity symbol tattooed just above his heart, while Dennis Rodman is a canvas of tattoo artwork.

Tattoos have always been in style with musicians too. Justin Timberlake has a guardian angel, amongst others. Rapper Eminem has so many tattoos they are hard to count including his daughter's name and his own. Keith Urban's wrist has the words "Omni Vincit Amor" tattooed

and is Latin for 'Love Conquers All;' he also has an eagle on one of his arms.

Not to be outdone, a lot of female stars also show varying degrees of artwork. Drew Barrymore is, in essence, a canvas full of tattoos; it is said that she created many of the designs herself. Reese Witherspoon is a little more subtle, wearing only one small star tattoo which is very seldom visible. Pamela Anderson has a mixture of tattoos also, the most notable being the word 'Mommy' on one finger, which reportedly used to read 'Tommy.' Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has five stars to represent every member of her family, her husband's initials, and the Jewish phrase 'I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine.'

Some supermodels also have tattoos. Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, and Stephanie Seymour all keep these ageless forms of fashion accessory. Many of the supermodels who opt for tattoos tend to show fewer and smaller designs than stars in other fields.

While many and various stars have had tattoos for a long time, the popularity of tattoos amongst stars has been on the increase, both in the swarm of stars who carry them and the number of tattoos that they have. Only a very few of them have only one tattoo. More stars than ever are taking on a large number of tattoos also as more visible tattoos, using skin as a canvas for an unlimited variety of everlasting artwork.

As stars show off their tattoos, and this is shown by the media, it becomes an ever-increasing influence for their loyal fans, especially amongst the young, to want to do the same. As with anything else that stars do in the public eye, their influence with tattoos helps this type of artwork become more widespread, increasingly popular, and more acceptable to the general population altogether.
